SET-UPS are probably the most common duties of the guitar repair shop. New guitars are rarely sent with comfortable playing action--they can all use a little TLC to get to their optimum playability. Several factors help define a guitar‚s playability: width, thickness and shape of the neck and fingerboard; height of strings; the amount of relief, or negative curve, in the neck; string gauge; nut adjustment and surface tension or drag of the neck finish and strings.
